WHO WE ARE
Community Matters to us at Light and Life Church.
We do not want to be a church that is just in a city but rather a church that is part of the city. You may drive by and see banners that say we are praying for our Police or Fire Department. You may see us at a City Council Meeting or Mayor's prayer breakfast. You may see us at a local school athletic game or partnering with others churches and organizations to clean up, serve, or support our community. We are a church that is not only in Downey, but part of it. Downey has a rich history that we want to support and honor.
Our city is the home of the Apollo Space Program, this is where the journey to the stars began. Downey is also where you can find the world's oldest operating McDonald's restaurant and the site of the first Taco Bell eatery. This is the city where the pop recording artist "The Carpenters" were inspired with many hit records. Today, our city is admired for its strong retail base, quality housing, and trustworthy local government.
Downey is a unique community that combines the best of both large and small. We are an active city of over 110,000 people with a small town atmosphere. This is a place of pride, history, involvement, and community. This is the place we worship, the place we serve, and the place we have been called to make Jesus known.
