Pura Vida Church Is: A Christ centered organism (yes, it's a living thing) founded by Dennis and Kyle Leon, focused on developing ministries that restore hope to individuals, families and communities through endemic and sustainable church planting. Vision: Restore hope one individual, one family, one community at a time. Mission: Planting culturally relevant churches in the coastal communities of Costa Rica and beyond. How We Do What We Do (Process): Pillars of Pura Vida Church - Present Christ to people through authentic relationships - Be and make disciples of Christ - Be a blessing to the community - Depend on the Holy Spirit What We Mean When We Say… Restore hope: Aiding people in their journey to find their God-given purpose, thus restoring a sense of hope and balance to their lives that only God can give. Holistic discipleship: Guiding the spiritual growth of a person’s whole being, mind body, spirit. Endemic Sustainability: Utilizing local gifts and resources so that a church does not require long term outside financial assistance. Authentic relationships: Loving people without an agenda, based on organic social connections.

ELI focuses on providing accessible and appropriate knowledge – delivered in a cost-effective and appropriate manner – which holds the greatest amount of long-term economic and relational impact among the needy. “We hunger for ideas like a person underwater hungers for oxygen!” says Peter Maru, Kipkaren Training Center Director. It is this genuine hunger for ideas, rather than handouts, that motivates us all the more to do whatever it takes to see that these friends living under such humble, difficult conditions be empowered with ideas, with training and resources that can help break the cycle of poverty as well as introduce them to the God who cares for the poor and told us to do so as well (1 John 3:17-18). In 1994, Empowering Lives International was formed, and from that time forward ELI has focused on integrating God’s Word with ideas and practical, strategic trainings that equip the needy to make important strides toward God and away from the chokehold of poverty.

We find it an absolute privilege to partner with brothers and sisters globally in fulfilling the great commission of bringing the gospel, the love of Jesus, into all the world. There are missionaries we partner with whose names and locations cannot be disclosed because the places they are serving are "closed" to the gospel.
The Apostle Paul said, "But God's word is not chained" as he talked about being in chains for the gospel. We believe this to be true, there is no law, no government, no persecution that can chain the good news of Jesus Christ.
